Kia Ora,

My name is James and I’m pleased to be joining Impact Tutoring as an online tutor in history and English. I’ve been a passionate learner of history and English for many years, especially military history and folklore.

I attended the University of Canterbury from 2010 to 2020 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and English, a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History and also a Master of Writing in Creative Writing. They allowed me to delve deeper into my special interests and gain a deeper appreciation for historical events and the intricate craft of creative writing.

With my study background – and interest – in History and English, my purpose is to use that background to support and share my passion with the students.

I currently live near Christchurch, and outside of my continuous learning of both subjects, I am a writer of historical, mystery and paranormal fiction, volunteer firefighter with my local volunteer fire brigade, researcher at a military museum, traveller and fan of the outdoors.

It will be my privilege to share my knowledge and to provide students with tailored learning in these subjects going forward.
