Junior Science and Online Course designer
Hi everyone,
My name is Amy and I am excited to join the Impact Tutoring team. I have a passion for the
natural environment and am a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Sciences) graduate from
the University of Waikato. I also work in the sustainability space and have held workshops in
schools to educate students about climate change.
During my final year of university, I was involved in a Scientists in Schools work project,
planning and teaching interactive lessons, with interesting experiments, for primary school
students. My enjoyment in this project encouraged me to become an Online Science Tutor in
2022.
Seeking new teaching experiences, I was drawn to Impact’s friendly community and
clear commitment to helping all students reach their potential. It is crucial to me to construct
stimulating lessons for students, using different tools to support different learning styles.
I see my role as a Science Tutor as an important opportunity to inspire, mentor and empower
students to make a positive difference in their communities.
In my spare time, I enjoy creating artworks using mostly pastels and acrylic and watercolour
paints. I am a member of the Tauranga Society of Artists and was their Media Manager for
over a year, creating designs for social media posts and websites to promote their popular
art exhibitions. I also enjoy photography, spending time with my pets, playing sports, quizzes
and nature walks.
I look forward to making new connections in my role at Impact Tutoring!
