Kia Ora!

My name is Benjamin and I’m an online tutor with Impact Tutoring. 

I am a recent NCEA graduate and first-year university student at Otago studying for a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English and Philosophy. I’m looking forward to sharing my passion for all things English and social sciences, but also sharing my extensive experience with the sciences and maths. 

The most exciting prospect around tutoring for me is being able to really get to know my students and learn how they like to learn. I know from experience that the traditional classroom is not ideal for everyone so I pride myself on the idea of being flexible to every student’s distinct learning needs. 

I’m passionate about reading, writing, and learning, but really, what I want to be giving my students the most is empathy, kindness, and encouragement. When you are believed in you’re capable of anything, and that comes above all else for me and my approach to tutoring. 

My two favourite things are the listening, playing, and collecting of music and the escapism of nature whether that be through biking, tramping, swimming, or sport. It’s really important to me to get to know my students on a personal level and I consider myself a great listener (as well as talker)

I’m thrilled to be able to teach, help, and make friends through my role as tutor.
