Jean's story — because you count.
Jean McKenzie is the founder of Impact Tutoring — an educator, innovator, consultant and businesswoman, passionate about helping every student reach their full potential.
This is her story, in her words.
'Because you count' — this philosophy is the bedrock
of my life's work.
It shows up in everything I do — Impact Tutoring, the Mathematics for a Lifetime Charitable Trust, and my educational work with QE2 Consulting. My core vision is to cultivate learning environments where every individual feels deeply appreciated and truly belongs.
What I'm here to do
Through personalised tuition, accessible community initiatives, and broader strategic educational insights, my unwavering commitment is to empower learners— to ensure they not only achieve academic success and fill crucial knowledge gaps but, most importantly, build an unshakeable confidence that transforms their lives far beyond the classroom, opening doors to lifelong choices and positive impacts within their communities. I believe passionately in the freedom and opportunity that outstanding education provides, and my dedication is to making that accessible and transformative for all.
It takes all of us
Achieving this profound impact is a collaborative journey. It flourishes when families, dedicated tutors, passionate franchisee owners, and supportive community networks unite, working hand-in-hand to nurture and champion every learner. This collective effort ensures the benefits of outstanding education truly extend to every corner of society.
Where this is going
My future vision sees dedicated franchisee owners carrying this vital work forward. They will be the torchbearers — bringing this transformative approach to their own communities, creating new ripples of confidence and opportunity, and ensuring that the belief that "Because You Count" resonates with even more children and families across New Zealand.

I believe in the potential of all people to flourish with the confidence that is instilled through customised learning. Many parents feel frustrated when they can't help their child improve — and adults want to make changes in their learning journeys too. What we have created is a business that empowers learners for their choices in life, across all types of communities.
